Face nr 5: watercolour windy day

Oh, thanks so much for all your encouragement and sweet comments. They gave me the push I needed to get going again. I looked through my inspiration files and wrote down everything I wanted to try out. So I guess for the next few days I'm safe ☺.

I made a whole bunch of backgrounds today, although I'm not even sure I will use them for this challenge. But if I want them, they're ready. And then I went playing with my watercolours. It's been a while since I used them, although I'd bought a new box full of yummy colours. It took a bit of getting used to again. Working with acrylics is so different from working with watercolours, and I have the tendency to use very little water. Which is not what you need with watercolours of course.

I decided to blow her hair in her face with a straw. Which was a bit scary, because if I ruined it I wouldn't have a face for today. But all in all it came out okay I think. I like this technique. Easier than dripping and you have a bit more control.

Here she is:

Off now to try and visit everyone! Thanks for stopping by, see you tomorrow with face no.6!

  3. Yup - she's a beauty - did you get dizzy when you were blowing on that straw - I am a bit of a control freak and tend to try to direct my ink too much when I try that technique.

    1. Eh, no, this time I didn't get dizzy because the paint was so wet ;-) I've had it in the past with ink though, maybe that doesn't spread as well as watercolours ....

  14. Denthe, I'm wondering how you got the "labels" on the side bar. I've been trying to do that and am not quite sure how to do that. I love that you can click on them and it will take you to all the posts in that category. How do I do that? If you can help, please. I'd appreciate it. I did leave a comment earlier on your beautiful work.

    1. Hi Gloria, let's see if I can explain this .... When you make a new post, on the right side of your screen you see "post settings". You click on labels, call it whatever you want to call it, and click on done. Your post is then labeled. Every new post that falls into that category, you give that same label, by clicking open labels and choosing the correct one.If you want to make a new category, you add a new label, and you can use it over and over again. Just don't forget to add the label when you create a post. You can also go back to older posts and add it.
Hope that's clear. If not, just ask!
