June is here already!

In May there are so many public holidays that it's always over before I know it. Since it's a new month tomorrow, I made a new wallpaper :-)

And you can download it here!

I also made another map face. The paper in this new road-book is much thinner and it's a bit shiny, which makes it more difficult to work on. I'm trying out a few ways to solve this. This one I glued onto another piece of paper, but now it's wrinkled so I need to find another way. Here it is anyway:

I spent a lot of time outside this week. The weather is absolutely gorgeous, it's warm and it seems like it's the middle of summer. I love it! I decided to finally redo a small chest of drawers that I've had since 3 years and that I hated the look of. I bought it in a thrift-store and it was painted in this hideous gold colour. I'm not really a fan of gold, and this was not a nice shade of gold either.

Here is how it looked after I sanded it:

You can't really see it in the picture, but I couldn't get rid of the gold completely, and I needed some colour to go with the beautiful weather, so I decided to makes colourful washes and paint each drawer in a different colour. That was fun :-) And a lot faster than just "normal"  painting. I decided to do the surrounding wood in a whitewash. Here you can see how I did it:

I took normal acrylic paint and mixed it with some water to the consistency of thick milk. I then put it on with a brush in the direction of the woodgrain.

Then I took a cloth and wiped it off. I did this for every colour. With some colours I thought the colour wasn't strong enough, so I repeated the same steps a second time.

Here you can see them all together:

And put together again:

I love it! Every time I see it it makes me happy. Here's a close-up:

I like it that the wood grain is still visible, because I only used thin washes of paint. This way the drawers don't get stuck either, which often happens when I use regular paint.

And because the weather made me happy, I planted a lot of flowers to brighten up our outdoor area :-)

I'll be linking to Paint Party Friday tomorrow. Hope to see you there!

Here are my weekly funnies and thinkies:

Thanks for dropping by! Hope your day started out fine and will only get better! Have a happy weekend ♥ ♥ ♥

The earth has music for those who listen

Yes! I finished my painting! It's going to be a picture-heavy post, so be prepared! If you don't want to see all the pics,  scroll down to the bottom to see the complete painting ;-)

This one was just plain fun. I drew some things in advance but most was just going with the flow.

Whenever I felt like using different colours I moved to another part and continued there.

For me this painting was a real colour party. I'm not even sure I'm completely finished with it. I might add some lines or dots in some places or add some more details  ...

And then again I might just leave it as it is :-)

There's an abundance of colours and details on there already, but it's quite addictive to keep adding ;-)

Maybe I just need to start a new one really soon, so as not to go totally overboard with this one ...

This is the last detail picture. I'll move on to the in-progress-pics after this!

I don't have many in-progress-pictures. I did take quite a few from small parts of the painting, but not from the painting as a whole. But, you' ll get the idea.

This is how I started:

Lots of my favorite colours, and I also like to make lines in it with a scraper. I think it adds some nice texture.

Here I added more paint, and used stencils, stamps and sprays.

Then I added random lines all over the canvas to make some compartments where I wanted to use different colours.

And so I continued with different colours in different sections and bringing out figures, some I drew beforehand and some only when I got to it.

And in the end it resulted in this:

"the earth has music for those who listen" - acrylics on canvas
80 x 80 cm - 31,5 x 31,5 inches

And for those of you who still don't have enough: here are my weekly funnies and thinkies :-)

Will be linking to Paint Party Friday tomorrow! I hope you're having a wonderful day! Thanks for your visit, and I wish you a fun and creative weekend! See you next week ♥ ♥ ♥

Map face

No, my painting isn't finished yet. It takes quite a lot of time before all those colours are painted in several layers. I have been working on it a little bit every time I get a chance (which isn't as often as I'd like), so I'm hopeful it'll be finished by next week. Fingers crossed :-)

Meanwhile I finished another map face. I bought another road book, the pages are larger but are pretty thin, so I need to adhere them to another piece of paper. But it's fun to search for faces in the lines again. This is what came out this time:

And that's all I have to show for this week! Except for the funnies and thinkies of course ;-)

Linking this post to the weekly blogparty at Paint Party Friday. It's always fun to see my online friends over there :-)

Thanks for stopping by, it's greatly appreciated! Wishing you a great day, and time to relax and do fun stuff in the weekend.

Bye for now. I'll be back next week ♥ ♥ ♥
