SUMMER !!

The weather is so gorgeous here, the kids have finished school for the summer, so vacation has well and truly started. Almost July, so time for a new wallpaper :-)

It's a different size than I normally use. Hubby got himself a new screen, so I was the happy recipient of his old one. And the resolution of my new screen is 1920x1080. If you want it on your computer, you can download it here.

I made a mapface again. Don't worry, I'm not gonna have a venting session today, I'll just let my art and my "funnies"  and thinkies speak for themselves...

And also a new face done with alcohol markers. Plus quote of course :-)

I almost forgot: I am finally on Instagram!! I've been wanting to try it out since years, but never could get myself to figure out how to use it, especially because it's made to use on your phone, and frankly, I don't really use my phone to make pictures. It's old, and the quality is bad, and I have a very good camera, so why would I? But thanks to my teenage daughter I am discovering the mysteries of Instagram, and I do like it. Although I still use it more on my computer than on my phone, but hey, it's a start, right!? You can find me here (@denthe.art). I'm finding a lot of familiar artists on there, who used to be on Paint Party Friday. I'll have to browse some more this weekend.

Okay, that's it for this week. About my blogpost last week: in case you're interested, I found a really interesting article about what's happening in the world, and I'll share the link here. Go and read it, it is so important to be aware. It's by Jonathan Freedland, and he ends it with these words: It doesn’t happen overnight. It happens bit by bit, word by word, each step taking us lower into the pit. It’s why every one of us has to fight today’s horror. Because if we don’t, who knows what terrors lie ahead?

I'll be linking this to Paint Party Friday tomorrow. Here are my weekly funnies an thinkies:

That's it! Thanks so much for your visit, I really appreciate it!
I wish you a wonderful day, and a joyful weekend!
I'll be back next week ♥ ♥ ♥

getting on my soapbox

The last few days I have been reading about the situation with the immigrant kids in the States, and I could barely believe what I was reading. I am beyond disgusted, shocked, sickened and saddened by it. How on earth is it possible that a country that calls itself civilized has stooped to such a low level. And how the hell is it possible there isn't a worldwide outcry against this. Why is the EU so quiet on this? Where is the rage about the treatment of these people? I feel so helpless and so so sad when I think of what these people must be going through. Fleeing violence and poverty, trying to give their kids a better life, thinking they will arrive in a decent country with decent laws where they will get a decent chance. And instead their children get taken away from them. What fucking right do these Americans have to just rip kids from their loving families? It is disgusting and downright unbelievable. Oh man, I get sick just thinking about it.

I know this is an art blog, so I won't keep going on about this. But my art this week is all about this horrible situation, and so are most of the "funnies"  and thinkies this week. I always express my feelings in my art, painting and drawing is for me a way to get a grip on my feelings and let them out in the open. And I cannot and will not be silent about things that matter to me and that I reckon should matter to other people as well. I also know there are many good and decent Americans, and I am happy that the people I know and am friends with are just as horrified about this as I am.

Last year after shit's inauguration (sorry, don't want to see his name on my blog), I started my series of map faces. I haven't done many this year, but now I feel the need to pull them out again and make new ones. It's strange, it's as if these maps are my way of dealing with this administration. So here's a new one:

That's it for this week. Linking to Paint Party Friday, as always. So happy that group still exists :-) Thanks Eva and Kristin!

Only some funnies and thinkies left. Because, now more than ever, one needs a smile. Here goes ....

Thanks for being here. Wishing you a peaceful friday and a weekend full of love.
I'll be back next week ♥ ♥ ♥

Playing in my journal

I have decided I want to finish at least one journal this year. I don't even know how many journals I have, some are just sketchbooks, some have a special function, f.i. just for doodles or lyrics girls or sketches, others are just regular "raw" journals where I clean my palette and my brushes and try things out. It's one of these that I want to finish. Most pages in this one have already some paint on there, and collage, and there are not even that many "empty" pages left. Here's a page I finished this week:

I'm also still playing with my weird faces and my alcohol markers:

I love the bright colours of the markers.

That's all I did so far. Time is just flying by, I could use some more hours in a day :-)

I'll be linking again to Paint Party Friday. Join the club if you feel like sharing what you did this week, everyone is welcome!

Thanks for taking the time to visit and leave a comment. Here's my weekly funnies and thinkies :-)

 lol

a picture speaks louder than words ...

That's it! Have a great day and a weekend full of joy!
See you next week ♥ ♥ ♥

Very short post

I almost didn't post this week, but then I thought: oh well, I might just as well post the one drawing I did this week. I started a new job and things have been really hectic around here, so art's been pushed to the back burner for now. I managed to finish this creature:

I read on Jessica's blog about the 52 quotes challenge and wanted to try that out. But I won't be able to do this every week, so I just drew a character and chose a quote to go with it. Hope next week I'll be able to do some more. I have been experimenting with preparing my pages in my road book. Thanks to Jennifer Rose I found a way to glue together two pages to make them more sturdy without them getting wrinkled in the process: spray glue. It works like a charm. Thanks Jennifer :-)

So that's it for this week! I'll make this post a little longer though with my weekly funnies and thinkies :-)

Linking as always to Paint Party Friday. Have fun today, enjoy your weekend, and thanks for coming over to visit! See you next week ♥ ♥ ♥
