Day 2: since you are gone

Wow, the days sure fly by lately! I can't believe how many people signed up for the challenge! 83 up till now!! It's gonna be a daytime job (or in my case rather a night-time job) to keep up with all the new entries. I will have to restrict it to 2 times a week or so, otherwise I'll never be able to get my faces done ;-)

Today's face is graphite, coloured pencil en acrylics. I made it in my journal, scanned it, and then I used Photoshop to paste it on a background of one of the paintings that I'm currently working on, and to add text to it. Lately I'm into a phase that I want to add text or poetry to everything. The poem (well, it's only part of it) is from Isabelle Cooper.

Here she is:

  5. Words and faces. What a great combo. I have a love/hate relationship with adding words to my pictures. I'm not sure what that's all about. Do I add what I'm thinking about at the moment, or let the picture speak for itself? I think part of it is a fear of putting words out there. To go along with the fear of putting artwork "out there"! I'm following you and looking forward to seeing your faces throughout the month.

I love your colorful artwork. I see you're a student of Flora Bowley. I recently discovered her and fell in love with her art. Her new book arrives any day now!
