I was pleasantly surprised when I moved to Brisbane and discovered there are shops here where artists can rent a shelf or a cube or a place on the wall for a fixed price per month, and sell their stuff there. You just need to bring in what you want to sell, and the shop owner does the rest. Great idea! I want to try it for three months, mostly for my heavier and more fragile products, like my mosaic mirrors and some of my boxes. I plan on opening an Etsy-shop soon, but there I will mostly sell prints and cards.
But first, well, I have to get the market out of the way… ☺
Here are the boxes that I finished this week. They just need a coat of varnish and they’re ready to go.
Text says: "whatever you want to do, do it now. There are only so many tomorrows."
the front of my doodlebox
side of the doodlebox
back of the doodlebox
and the other side ....
These doodleboxes are so much fun to do, I might make another one ☺
And these boxes still need some work ….
I got some great suggestions about the inside of the boxes and how to display them, so thanks for that!
And now for the winner of my calendar give-away. There were not nearly as many names in the bowl as last time. Is my calendar less popular? Was it too much work to write something about it? Or is everybody too busy with their own creations for the festive season? I don’t know and it doesn’t really matter. That way the people that did enter had more chance of winning ☺
Since both of my kids wanted to draw the winner, they came up with a great idea. Both of them would draw one name, and these two names went back in the bowl. Then I would (blindfolded of course ....) draw one of these two names, and that would be the winner.
That got me thinking. For my last give-away, I had two prints made. It was the first time ever that I made a print of one of my paintings, and I had no clue about margins etc …. But they came out really nice, so I’m happy to have found a place where I can go to get them printed. One of these prints went to Gina in the US (last thing I heard it was still on its way ....). The other print is still here. But for the prints I want to sell in my Etsy-shop I want to make the white margins a bit bigger. And since I don’t want to sell two different prints from the same painting, I decided to give this one away as well!
Which means …. I have two winners! A first prize winner, who can choose between the calendar and the print, and a second prize winner, who gets whatever the first one doesn’t choose. Soooo, who might they be?
The first name drawn by my daughter is:
The second name drawn by my son is:
And lastly, the name that was drawn by me from these two is:
Congratulations Jessica! You are the first prize winner! I know that you already bought a calendar, but you might want a second one. OR you can choose the print! Just let me know, together with your postal address, and I’ll send your choice to you.
And congratulations to Natasha too! You will have to wait for Jessica to know whether you’ll be receiving the print or the calendar. But you can send me your postal address already, so I can send it as soon as I hear from Jessica.
For the ones who didn’t win: thank you so much for helping me promote my calendar, and don’t give up. There will be more give-aways in the future!

So sorry I'd been a tardy blogger your calendar looks great! Congrats to the winner, and your print is superb :) yep I took the Eclipse photo from the back deck, but I did use 'zoom' LOL! My hubby 'the big F' as I affectionately call him can't bear to live too far from the beach, he surfs everyday, me I rather view the beach from the shade, with a book or electronic device to play with!! Wow, love the sound of the shop in BrisVegas, and your boxes look like they will be great Christmas prezzies, good luck at the market, you certainly are multi-talented :) Don't forget to relax for a minute every now and then ;) Happy PPF :)

ReplyDeleteCool concept. Glad to see you going for the markets again. :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winners.
Denthe, I really am fascinated by boxes, especially yours. I have a collection of different boxes from different eras and places. I enjoy tucking special little notes from my children in them, antique jewelry and treasures.
ReplyDeleteYour doodle boxes are my favourite and I also love your boxes with the painted dots in the aboriginal style. I really appreciate aboriginal art. I am tempted to give painting boxes a try.
I visited your website and was surprised to see that you have brown hair...for some reason, I always pictured you with red hair... Maybe it is because of all of your bright colours in your art.???LOL
Have you ever considered putting some of your calendar girls and one liners on the boxes? I think they would also be a hit. Thanks for sharing again. I hope your sales go well.
Renee
hihi ... well, I must admit I have thought about dying my hair red ☺ Never thought about putting my oneliners on a box, that might be a great idea! I have thought about putting sketches on there, but I usually start too late and then I stick with what I know best because I don't have time to experiment .. .
DeleteThe print showed up today! I love it and my husband did too - I will take pictures and post either tomorrow or Monday! Thank you so much - I will definitely frame this and hang it on my wall!
