ready for a vacation

Today hubby's working his last day, and then will be off for three weeks! Yeah! Finally time to spend some time together and relax :-)

This week I didn't paint on my large canvas nor in my bathroom. Reason for this being the two little fuzzballs I'm still taking care of. They need a lot of attention which makes it difficult for me to work any length of time. So this week, in between feeding the kittens, playing with them and doing all the other chores, I made another artjournal spread. It's a long time ago I worked in my journal, but I signed up for a workshop with Roxanne Coble "Creatures" and have been longing to try out the tips and techniques.

I love her style of journaling, and I'm still struggling with making artjournaling more than just painting in a book instead of on a canvas. Also, I needed an outlet for my feelings of frustration and fear and bewilderment and anger about the state of the world today.

Needed to put some birds in there and some hearts and an outstretched hand, to balance out the anguish.

Here's the whole spread. The quote is from the movie "the green mile", and I thought it fitted perfectly with what I (and I guess a lot of other people) am feeling today.

Now on to something that makes me still feel in love with the world and its creatures:

Aren't they the cutest!? They have grown so much already and are now starting to play and trying to run. It's so funny to watch.

Our cat is finally showing some interest in them :-)

And our dog is a bit fascinated with them, but when they get too close he doesn't trust it and makes a quick getaway.

They will stay for a few more days and then will go back to my sister, who will keep them at their farm. No doubt they'll have a ball chasing after mice :-)

Well, that's it for now and for the next few weeks. I'm taking some time off from blogging to enjoy the holidays with my family. Linking this to Paint Party Friday, as always. Follow the link to see some wonderful creations!

And to end, in this world of misery, I think we can all use some laughs, so here are my funnies for this week:

Sorry to keep posting about Trump, but geez, I cannot believe there's actually a risk of him becoming the next president of the United States. That would be a nightmare for the US and for the entire world. I just hope every single American with some sense in his head will go and vote for Hillary. Let Brexit be a lesson!

Thanks to everyone visiting here, thanks for your  comments and I wish all of you a day, a weekend, a week, a month, of joy and happiness and peace. Especially peace ....

See you in a few weeks time ♥ ♥ ♥

  3. I loved your spread in the Creatures class!! I didn't put two and two together and realize that it was you! That's a great class isn't it? Nothing like photos of kittens to make us feel better! Yes-in the US we are terrified of this maniac.

  7. The journal spread is so gorgeous and your style shines through. It's wonderful. I too struggle with my art journal art looking more like a painting in a book but then again, does it matter? It's art made just for us so our journals can be whatever we want them to be! Kittens are adorable. They can brighten any day for sure! :)

  8. I like your journal spread. And those kittens, wow! how precious all that new life is! The dog is wise to be wary. Yes, the world is certainly not the safe place it was when I was growing up. I would leave the house to play in the 80 acre land at my grandfather's place and not return till it was time to eat. No one worried I'd be snatched or blown up. They should have worried that I'd be snake bitten, but we were expected to develop some common sense. Nowadays kids have everything done for them and don't get the opportunities to develop skills and character. I don't like anyone running for president, for different reasons.

better the dog runs away rather than attack o.0

  15. Love the journal spread Denise, and I feel the same about the world-how can so much evil be happening?! Your spread shows your care and concern, thank you for sharing this <3

I am ready for Hillary and I am happy to hear you speak of Trump- this is what the idiot doesn't realize or care about-the WORLD is watching and listening!! What is even scarier is that there are actually people here in the US who follow and believe in him! Heaven help us all if ever he should succeed! Phew, now i have stomach ache!

On to your vaca/holiday- enjoy! Relax, laugh, run, play, paint, just live it up!!Life is too short not too!!
    sending huge hugs and love,Jackiexo

  16. Love your journal layout !!! That movie is one of my favorites. I watch it over and over. That's a interesting style and if I didn't have so many unfinished classes in my cue already I'd sign up for it. What was I ever thinking ...signing up for art classes int the summer ...DA? Love the funnies especially the Trump one . My husband is one of the scary Trump supporters and we have interesting conversations and debates regularly. I have to vote to negate his vote or be doomed. Th state of our country is real scary right now for sure.

  21. Wonderful journal page! I love how your journal can be your place to let it all out, but me too, I struggle with the 'journal' part, and more often end up with just a painted page with something missing somehow.
These kittens are just so adorable!
    Have a great holiday!
