doodling again

Well, after spending an entire afternoon painting on my large canvas, deciding that I hated it and removing all I had done, I decided to leave it alone for now. It's sitting on its easel next to my desk, and I look at it every time I'm doing something there, so I'm sure one of these days I'll know how to continue. Sometimes you just have to be patient ....

Meanwhile, I started doodling again. I don't even remember when the last time was that I did that. I used to doodle while I was waiting for my daughter to finish her gymnastics-training, and when I was sitting on my daughter's bed at night. But we don't do that anymore, somehow we've grown out of it, and now it seems as if I never doodle anymore.

Until now, that is :-) Here's my first doodle of 2017!

This week has been rather depressing considering all that's happening in the world. It feels as if war is coming closer every day and I'm getting so fed up with the moronic leaders of some countries. They're like children fighting, which would be okay (well, maybe not ....) if only they didn't have grown-up toys.  I can't believe how many of these assholes are now in leading positions in the world. How has it ever come this far? I wish they would just drop dead, the lot of them. The world would surely be a safer place then. So my map face this week is influenced by this:

But I've got good news too! Last Friday I received 2 adorable ATC's from Sal Scheibe. They're gorgeous, with bright colours just the way I like them. Sal is so talented, I'm always in awe when I visit her blog and see her work. Look at them!

Thanks so much Sal!

Linking to Paint Party Friday, follow the link if you want to see what people around the world created this week :-)

I need funnies more than anything right now. So here are some:

And of course some wise ones too ...

That's it for this week! Thanks so much for being here! Enjoy your day, and I wish you a weekend full of fun, love, kindness and without worries. See you next week ♥ ♥ ♥

  1. I hear ya’ about the depressing week. How has it come to this? I find myself thinking things like, “Where’s a good assassin when you need one?” Which is sad…..But your art and funnies are a welcome salve to the week. So thank you!! :D

  2. that last photo is very cleverly done. war is hopefully not going to happen, but yes it does seem like bickering toddlers wanting to hurt each other anyway they know how and unfortunately the rest of the world is in the way

glad to see you have starting doodling again, can be great at releasing stress

  3. Oh yeah I have missed your doodles. I really like the little faces in this one. Very nice gift from Sal. I told my brother several months ago that we would be in war and now dt has set off two bombs in two different places. Get ready is all I can say.

  5. Oh I love your map face and the message. So strong! I also love the bird alongside her, it feels so calming. Please stop expecting war, my belief is that the more people expect war, the closer it gets. If no one expect it we won't have it.

  13. Most of the previous comments have said it for me...the world is definitely run by greedy, egotistical, arrogant, morons who don't have a clue and could care less about what people want or need. I love your doodle and the map face and it's message, and as always I enjoyed your funnies/quotes.

  15. I have to agree that many leaders are not really leading but following and repeating horrible mistakes from the past. Your map page is so powerful in its imagery and message. Your doodle was sitting there inside you and now it is happy to be released so you can brighten our lives with it. Thank you for all of your support and sharing over the years!

  16. Denise, your art is always gorgeous. I had not seen your doodles before. No wonder you used to do them probably so freely as you listened to your daughter. Gorgeous work. And the map face piece is beautiful and poignant.

  21. Denise, I could not agree more with you!! Everything you say here in this post is exactly the way I am feeling! It really bums me out as Easter and spring are usually such joyous times for me. But I can not help but think of all of those poor folks in Syria and that nobody else wants them and that our country doesn't even give a shit! AllChristians? yea right, when it suits them! Hypocrites!

As for your doodling! WOW doodle schmoodle, that is down right exquisite drawing! again, you continually amaze me!
