You won't see much difference between the 2 paintings at the moment. I'll start with the first one.
This is what I started with. I had a hard time remembering how to go about it. The last 3 paintings I made were from sketches in my sketchbook. These are Flora-paintings, meaning I am going to let the painting decide what goes on there. I doodled a bit on there, but these doodles don't mean anything in this stage, they can turn into something completely different. I'm turning my canvas all the time, so I loose track of what I've doodled before. Which is as it should be. Although I must admit I'm getting rather attached to the bird and the fish saying hello to each other.... They might stay ☺.
Still no idea where I'm going with this one. I see animals everywhere, so I might make a painting without humans this time. Who knows ... I have a whole week to look at it and think about it.
This is the second painting I tackled yesterday:
Just kept making marks on there, painting around the lines and shapes:
And on this one I saw faces everywhere. You might notice that I'd already drawn a face with eyes, but then I turned the canvas and saw another figure emerge. So I had to draw her too...
Not sure where this one is going, but there will definitely be faces on there :-)
I also finished another miniature painting (10x10cm - 4"x4"). Love making these!
This will be available in my Etsy-shop as soon as I open it. And yes, I know I said I was going to open it this week. Alas, yesterday and today (I always wait until the last minute, very bad habit of mine ....) I really struggled with writing my shop policies and the descriptions of the items I want to sell. And taking some good photos to go along with it turned out to be much harder than I'd expected, especially with the really dark weather we've been having here this week. So in the end, I decided to cut myself some slack and open it some time next week.
By the end of the week, when the shop is open, I'll send a newsletter to my newsletter-subscribers, with a coupon-code inside. So if you want to take advantage of that, better hurry and sign up for my newsletter here. And don't worry, I will only send one newsletter a month, I won't spam your inbox ☺
Well, thanks for visiting, and for commenting. I love hearing your thoughts about what I'm doing and creating! I'm linking this to Paint Party Friday, go have a look at their blog to see all the participants. Lots of eye-candy everywhere!
Wishing you a wonderful Friday, and a restful relaxing weekend! ♥ ♥ ♥
So beautiful!! The 4x4 is gorgeous
ReplyDeleteI want to thank you for being part of the 29 faces challenge, hugs!
Beautiful works, just love your original color range! Lovely face, too, with a great quote!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful colours, cant wait to see where you go with these. I saw some of those 4 x 4 canvas boards when I was looking at canvases in our local art store, and guess what I brought a bunch, a new challenge painting small, maybe I do a give away with them? Your 4 x 4 is lovely, you have inspired me.
ReplyDeleteWow, so beautiful artworks. Love all of them
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing the adventure of your first painting am sure it will be as beautiful as all the others. Loving the new miniature, you have much talent.
ReplyDeleteHappy PPF, Annette http://nettysartadventures.blogspot.co.uk/
I love your technique...very uplifting and beautiful to look at. It is good to revisit previous work, in a way it's how we improve and change direction.

The colorful paintings are amazing, I love your vibrant technique, but today my favorite is the beautiful painted face and the wonderful saying!
ReplyDeleteI'm fascinated as always:-)

Beautiful work and I am looking forward to seeing where your ainting will be going! Have fun, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI love your use of color and look forward to seeing more of these as they emerge. Your little one is perfect. Happy PPF
ReplyDeletexxx Marianne
I adore your mini painting and look forward to seeing more of the progression of your new work. HPPF!
ReplyDeleteI can look at your paintings for hours- so much in them and so much to be seen. Love that you share the behind the scenes development of them! Isn't that so true- all that goes into opening a shop- the business end that seems to take so long - at least when I am doing that part of being an artist. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeletelooking forward to seeing the WIPs finished with faces! Lovely 4 by 4 and good luck with the Etsy!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing your process of adding this and that to see what happens. Your colors are glorious as usual. Thank you for your comment on my blog post. Happy PPF
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your Etsy shop opening very soon! :)
ReplyDeleteI just love your sense of color and mark-making!
Fabulous!

Such beautiful colors in the WIP. Looking forward to whatever emerges from the paint and doodles. Also, your face is gorgeous. Love those luscious lips.
ReplyDeleteCongrats and good luck on your Etsy shop. Love this work. I'm sure whatever you see in these pieces, it will come out for us all to see. Great work as always. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI just love your intuitive process. I always know what I'm going to paint before I start because I get inspired by a particular animal and then create a landscape around them but your way just seems so much fun - a real magical mystery tour for you as you let your subconscious lead the way!!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I had a good look through your website last night and now you've made me feel that I should have one as well - so that folk who don't want to read all my random tales can just go straight to the business end of art buying! Do you feel it's helpful and how do you go about getting it found on search engines - I'm so clueless about that side of things!
Thnx Nic! I must admit my website gets a bit neglected at the moment. It's because I have plans to make my website on my blog, by making different pages, so everything is all together but people that just want to see my art can go straight there. I just have to figure out how to do this ... ;-) And getting found by search engines .... When you google "SEO" you'll find loads of articles and tips about that. I'm still finding my way around it myself, and I'm not sure at all whether I'm doing it right. But yes, I think it's helpful to have your art all together so people can see everything you make without having to scroll through hundreds of blogposts.....
DeleteThank you so much for the info. I actually registered with Weebly when I saw it as the host for your website so now I just need to find time to sit down and actually create the pages and I also had to registered a .co.uk domain name seeing as I used my .com one for my blog just so I could get rid of the blogspot bit - pity I didn't think of all this before I just designed and ordered 100 new business cards!! hey ho.
DeleteLove where you are going with the intuitive process... sometimes I find that it's really good to step away for a while like you did.
ReplyDeleteOh... so exciting to start new intuitive panels. I can't wait to see what you do with them. I pulled out a couple of my old panel starts from Flora's class the other day. It was really a pleasure to work on them and just let the story emerge. Lovely work
ReplyDeletei love seeing the paintings you create like this. You make me want to try one too.
ReplyDeletethey are looking quite lively.

I love your paintings and it's very interesting to have a look in the process.
ReplyDeleteI am truly amazed by all the incredible layers in your pieces and LOVE your 4 x 4. I've signed up for your newsletter :) Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful art. Beautiful colors. I like your portrait and message on it as well. It is fantastic and so cute. Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteThanks Aga! I've tried to find your blog, but you're on Google+ and I can't get to it, can't even find whether you have a blog ....
DeleteThe weather is miserable... and it is even worse today so maybe another day of painting rather than taking photos is in order... xx
ReplyDeleteoh how wonderful are the colours you chose!!! well done!!! wishing you a wonderful weekend!!!
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love how your paintings are coming along! I set my Flora paintings aside this week...just needed to do something else. Now I'm ready to go back to them and see where they take me. It's fun that we have that course in common! Have a great weekend! xo, janice

ReplyDeleteLOVE your 4x4 canvas - so cute - love her powerful quote!
ReplyDeleteIt's always exciting to watch your art unravel...it's like it's all in there but you then we have to discover where exactly and you with your magic bring it forth! HPPF!
ReplyDeleteWonderful technique, can't wait to see the finished project!! Love the 4x4 very cool!! Luscious lips!! Thanks for always sharing you work with such heart!

ReplyDeleteI like it when paintings tell you what to paint..lovely layers
ReplyDeleteyour use of color is fabulous!
ReplyDeleteLove all the happy, vibrant colours. I'm finding it rather difficult to paint in the Flora-style, without knowing where it will lead to, but I think it's a good exercise. Looking forward to seeing your paintings evolve!
