Okay, this year I'm going to try to participate in PPF every week. I know I missed the first two weeks already, but that's because I was on holidays and haven't painted AT ALL. I doodled, mainly ☺.
I still have 5 in progress paintings waiting for me, but as long as it's school holidays here in Australia (one more week after this one) I'm afraid I won't get much painting done. So I just paint a little bit here and there. And since I'm in fullblown doodle-modus at the moment, I decided to color in one of my doodles.
This is the original one:
I tried printing it out on watercolour paper, but it was too thick for our printer. So I had to go with plain drawing paper, which is not nearly as nice (or easy!) to paint on with watercolors. I'm not really satisfied with my colourchoices, plus my scanner was acting funny, so that some parts look white while they're actually pink. But, well, I'll show it anyway:
I had to do all the black doodles again, because I really didn't like it with the paint on top. But boy, was that a hell of a task. No fun at all! It's no doodling anymore, it's going over doodles that were already there and having to make sure that you follow the lines exactly. Completely the opposite from "normal" doodling, which is relaxing and fun.
Anyway, strangely enough, being the color junkie that I am, I very much prefer the black & white version. So I guess I won't be coloring doodles anymore soon. But it's nice to compare the two. I'm kind of curious as to what you prefer?
Here are two more doodles that I did during our holidays.
This week I didn't doodle at all, and how I missed it! Another resolution I want to keep this year is to spend less time on the computer. During our holidays, I only checked my mails, and not even every day, and it freed up so much time to do other things. I will have to be strict with myself though, because it's so tempting to have a little look here, and another read over there, and post some comments, and check the mail again etc... Before you know it the evening is over and you haven't done a thing. No more!
Paint Party Friday-hosts Eva and Kristin are holding an auction for Sandy Hook. If you're interested in participating, please have a look at their blog. And while you're there, check out all the amazing artists and their work.
Thanks for visiting, I have a lot of catching up to do on the PPF-artists, so I'll start right now ☺
Hope you're having a wonderful Friday, and wishing you a relaxing and fun weekend! ♥ ♥ ♥
Dear Denthe!
ReplyDeleteI think your doodles are amazing, both in B&W and the colourful one!
Happy PPF from
Ilona
These are amazing, I especially love the last two. Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteLoving your awesome doodles Denthe, you are so talented. Happy PPF and enjoy the weekend, Annette x
Liefs,
Marianne
These are just stunning, and I agree, the black and whites speak to me more too. I think because there is so much going on with all your patterning, they don't also need the color. So glad to see you're baaaaack! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteI love doodeling and your art. Wonderful pieces.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend
Your doodles are wonderful, either with or without color! You could make an image transfer of one on to canvas or watercolor paper and then paint, but they're fabulous in black and white.
ReplyDeletethese are fantastic ~ such depth and creativity ~ Wow!
ReplyDelete(A Creative Harbor) ^_^
wonderful detail in your gorgeous doodles, I love the one you coloured in.
ReplyDeleteDenthe, I love your doodles. I have to agree that as far as being a doodle, I like the black and white. However, the added colors make for some really nice art too. Great seeing your new 2013 works. Thanks for the visit.
ReplyDeleteI love colour but for some reason I think your black and white doodling has more impact without the colour... so I prefer it black and white.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the 'less time on the computer' resolution. I'm working on it anyway!!! Good luck!
Thank you for visiting :)

I'm sooooo amazed by what you call your doodles... honestly, they are total works of art. I love them both with and without color. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI love color too, but your bw doodles are so crisp and fresh I prefer them! <3
ReplyDeleteFantastic work! Lots of depth. Color and b/w are just awesome. Thanks.:)
ReplyDeleteSo amazing and creative!
ReplyDeleteLove the variety and rhythm and movement and texture you create!

ReplyDeletelieve groetjes

Adding the color gives it a different feel but I torn as to which I like better because they each have such different feelings. The black and white is timeless and classic and lets the design draw the eye- but the color one...oh I can't choose! Happy PPF!
ReplyDeleteYour work is totally amazing. I am drawn to the colored piece. It may be because I am pushing myself to use stronger colors and now that I have begun I find that I really like it. It is really hard to pick a favorite because each piece is so beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLove your doodles......the white with the thick black looks fantastic
ReplyDeleteThose doodle are awesome, I prefer the b&w, maybe because the colour detracts some that delicious detail. But then if I had just seen the coloured one I would also think its awesome.
ReplyDeletewow!!! Your doodles are stunning-whether in B & W or in glorious color!!! Really fabulous!
ReplyDeleteOh, man, I wish I could doodle like you! Though I really like your color version, the b&w is indeed very striking and holds my gaze longer... so much to discover and relish!
ReplyDeleteOh Denthe... your doodled pages are stunning... I love them... whilst the color is lovely... I think the black and white pages are more dramatic... look more detailed... and yes... know exactly what you are saying with the computer... I need to do that too...
ReplyDeleteJenny ♥
Welcome back to PPF! I love how you combine the doodling with people and faces.
ReplyDeleteRinda
OH! I love each piece, such a wonderful style you have!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! I think I prefer the black/white doodles more because I think you spend more time looking at them finding all the secret smaller doodles within - the color kinda takes the fun out of it by quickly identifying all the different parts/elements.
ReplyDeleteUm, if my doodles looked like yours, I would want to do them all the time too! They are amazing and so full of detail! And I love the quotes too - just brilliant - but I don't know if I can choose between color and black and white - they are so different :)
ReplyDeleteGood luck sneaking in art time when you can, xoxo
thanks for sharing, you always amaze me with your art. I love the coloured one, it has beautiful muted colours! of course i love the B&W too.
ReplyDeleteYou doodles are the best!! Another unique style that I love!! I love both colored and black and white!! Good job!!
ReplyDeleteHugs Giggles
How amazing your doodles are!! They are terrific and very unique!! I love the colored version the most!
ReplyDeleteIt's a great idea to print it out and play with colors. I think some bright crazy colors would be fun. :))
ReplyDeleteBeautiful as ever. Love your zentangle paintings and the colorful pendants.
ReplyDeleteHave a nice sunday,
xox Anja
Your doodles are fantastic, mesmerizing, I do like them all, but would say the black and white versions are my favorite.
ReplyDeleteyou doodle so beautifully denthe! I love the black and white version better. Love the details. You are doing great. Enjoy the process!
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I love both the black and white AND the color version of the first doodle. The details are amazing in the black and white but the your color choices in the second give the piece such a happy vibe. I have the same trouble with watercolor mucking up the black lines of my doodles. I wonder if inks might work out better?
ReplyDeleteGreat idea Janice! thnx! Have to try that :-)
DeleteAbsolutely beautiful work...zentangles are awesome and the colors add to the charm !!
