For the first time in what seems like months I've been working in my art journal again. I plan on doing that more regularly this year. For this week it's about all the painting I got done, except for the gelli-prints in my previous post. I hope next week, when school starts again, things will calm down and I'll have some more time.
I want to experiment with different techniques instead of doing the same things over and over again. This was a drawing I had in one of my sketchbooks. I scanned it, printed it out on top of a poem and sprayed it with ink. I then glued it in my journal. Part of the poem that was on the leftover paper spoke to me, so I decided to glue that in too. A bit of watercolour, a bit of paint, a bit of ink, and she's finished. I think.... It was fun.
This is a doodle that I finally got to finish this week:
Somehow, I can't find the peace and quiet anymore that made me doodle every night when I was on holidays. There's always other things getting in the way here, always something else that needs to be done. I need to find a way to get more organized and schedule in my painting and drawing / playing time. Otherwise it'll always come at the end of the list....
Anyway, have to get going again, to badminton practice with the kids. Thanks so much for stopping by, and for leaving your lovely comments. They mean a lot to me! Don't forget to check out the other artists at Paint Party Friday!
See you again in a few days. Meanwhile, have a lovely Friday and a great weekend, and to all Australians: happy Australia Day tomorrow!
Loving both your pages Denthe. Enjoy the weekend, happy PPF, Annette x
ReplyDeleteYour doodling is fantastic Denise... I just love the pages that you have been creating... and love the way you scanned and created your art journal page too... gorgeous with the spray inks... happy Australia Day to you too...

Love both pieces, summer can make it so hard to focus on art, there is always something to do. And the evenings are shorter, so we don't get that time for ourselves!
ReplyDeleteLove them both, all your art works is every time inspiring. Love the gelli plate results for fabulous backgrounds too.

ReplyDeletei know what you mean about not having much time. the days have been flying by lately and i never have time for fun stuff, like painting and drawing. sigh.
What a great idea to print out your lady over a poem and then use a piece of it in your journal. LOVELOVELOVE! Your doodle is amazing too. Badminton practice - now that is something we don't hear about in the states. What a great game that is. Happy PPF!

Your doodles are so eye catching, my eyes just want to dance all around them. Try to make that special time for you!
ReplyDeleteLove the colours and the energy popping out. Happy PPF.
ReplyDeleteTime to create is always a challenge. I try to look at the days that I can't get to my artwork or writing as germination days. I'm gathering material, strengthening and growing. Some days, we just can't get to the sweet spot, but your work shows that you are creating and germinating all the time. Beautiful journal work -- so much vitality! Thanks for sharing.
