overview of the 29 faces challenge

This'll be a quick post, because I'm in the midst of videotaping my lesson for Soul Food! Oh, I'm learning so much doing this, and you know what? I really really enjoy teaching! I might start to make a whole series of small workshops online. And some people have been asking me to do live workshops. I might make that my mission this year :-)

But first I'll show you the last two faces for the 29 faces challenge.

Face 28: pencil and marker (and more hair than face really .... ;-) )

And the bonusface (since February only had 28 days this year): watercolour and marker:

And here's an overview of all the faces I did this month:

I'm always amazed by how much one can get done in one month. Thank you so much Ayala Art for organizing this! It's one of my favorite challenges and I'm already looking forward to September :-)

Okay, I have a question for you: when you do an online workshop do you prefer to watch everything in "real time", or do you prefer to have some parts fast forwarded? If I leave everything in real time there might be a lot of video's to watch and with people always being stressed for time it might not be the best thing? Just wondering .....

I'm linking this to Paint Party Friday and for the last time to 29 faces challenge! Take a look over at both blogs to see the beautiful things people create!

And don't forget: you can still sign up for Soul Food! The classes started in February, but you have access to the class until the end of the year, and all video-lessons are downloadable to your computer to keep! I haven't had time to try out any of the lessons yet, but I have watched almost all of them and really enjoyed it. Give it a try! There's so much you can learn :-)

Hope your day has started out wonderful, and that the coming weekend will find you happy and healthy. Thanks so much for visiting! See you next week ♥ ♥ ♥

  2. Your faces are always so diverse but always so you. I love the thick hair on the first one and those amazing lips on the second one! I haven't really ever done an online course (I did start an acrylic landscape one with craftsy but haven't finished it yet as I find I get too impatient watching other people painting and just want to get on with it myself!) Personally I'd be a fan of timelapse on certain parts so folk can still see what you do and how you do it but it's speeded up so it doesn't take as long to see it actually progress (I imagine watching other people paint in real time isn't quite as interesting as it is for the person who is lost in the process of painting!) That's just my opinion of course! x

  4. Brilliant faces!! I LOVE the hair on the first one and the second one has a really lovely retro quality. Personally I like having some video fast forwarded. In my experience with online classes if they get too long I will fast forward myself:)

  6. Nice contrast with these two faces, the lady with the tousled hair and the other with such neat flick-ups.
I would be grateful for a mixture of real-time and speed-ups in on-line lessons.

  7. Gorgeous faces both so different too! Almost a different Eras even. I like to watch real time but speed up the monotonous parts. I want the info then show it quickly in between...I find it hard to stick to it if it's too long. If it's short real time that's fine. The Strathmore workshop was fine real time. Hope that helps! Glad your planning your own workshops. If they are reasonably priced I have no doubt you'll attract the volume! All the best!

  15. great stuff Denise - can't wait for your soul food class in April! regarding on-line lessons, i prefer if some parts of lesson are sped up a little bit, the parts that are repetitive.

  16. I love the wild mane on the first portrait. I also hope I get to see your soul food series. It sounds fun. As to your question, I believe that fast forwarding certain sections makes it better sometimes. Blessings!

  17. Denise,

Your faces are amazing in diversity and style! Wow!

I would for sure take an online course of yours! I personally prefer to see the whole process. Often with the videos sped up, it is hard to see the little touches that help a person finish off a piece.

Thanks for sharing! It is great that you are having so much fun teaching!

  24. Wow! I am impressed with all of your beautiful faces! And with you recording lessons. I've recently done a video tape of me painting and have yet to finish editing it. It is a LOT of work! Kudos to you!! xoxo

  25. loved seeing all that hair and both ladies.
as for the classes, if it is a new technique or tutorial for how to draw something then i like to see it in real time. if the above mentioned have been demonstrated then i do not mind it going in fast time. So a mix can work nicely. I hope your lessons are coming along with grace for you. I have a feeling you are a great teacher.

  28. What a fabulous array of wonderful faces.
Each one exciting and beautiful in their own way!
To answer your question about watching video I prefer certain parts sped up.
I find it better use of the time.
For example if you were making a small booklet and showed how to fold and prepare the first page...the following pages could be sped up because it is a repeat of the initial first step.
In my view Misty Mawn is a glowing example of creating brilliant videos.
She is an all around generous and gifted teacher that holds nothing back because she is secure and wants others to learn and grow as well.

Oops didn't mean to ramble on but I am a huge fan of hers having taken a class in real life with her and several on line classes.

I am really looking forward to your Soul Food Lesson Denise ♥
I admire anyone that can make a video of their creative process as that is far beyond me at the moment.
