journalpage and start of a new painting

No, my large painting isn't finished yet, but I only worked on details and finished the sides, so you wouldn't probably see any difference with last week. These next few days I want to finish it, so next week I'll show you all the pics from start to finish.

For this week I have another journalpage. I got so inspired by pictures I found on the internet that I decided to play in my journal again. Using only pens, since this was a page from the journal I made with gelli-printed pages, so there was colour in the background already. I had fun using a longer poem this time, but it took quite a while before I had it all written down ;-)

I also started a new canvas already, even though the other one isn't finished yet. This is a smaller one, and it's one with painting the negative space again. These kind of paintings are very easy to do in between other things. Even if I only have 10 minutes, I can still paint. Perfect for now, since my lack of time is still very much present ...

Until now I made these with white paint in between, but now I want to try it with darker paint. Looking forward to how it'll develop. I love making these!

Finally managed to make another lyricsgirl. I even put down the lyrics already :-) Here she is:

I'm still working on my large canvas. It really takes a while before such a big one is finished. But it's slowly getting there. Here's a detail of the couple:

Now that I see it on the screen I realize I have to change the colour of his ear. It always surprises me how much more you can see when it's on a screen.

Didn't have time last week to blog, I'm still hoping somehow I'll find a magic way to make my days last longer and make myself a bit more organized ... :-)

working on my new painting

The way the time is flying by is really getting to me, so today I decided I would paint no matter what! The gallery has been asking for another large canvas, and it has been standing on my easel since weeks. I just need to make time for it, and let all the other things go. I had the house to myself for the first time since 2 months, so I put on my favorite music and started painting. Ooh, I so enjoyed it. Although it was frustrating too at times. The less I paint, the more difficult it gets. It's almost as if I have to learn the same things over and over again. But after two hours I got the hang of it again. Sadly that was also about the time I had to stop to get the kids from school. Still, I managed to almost finish one corner of the canvas.

Yes, a dog! It was there so clearly, I just had to bring it out. This is how the whole canvas is looking now:

I managed to make only one face this week! So it's good that I'm not participating in the 29 faces challenge, I wouldn't have been able to do it and if there's one thing I hate it's starting a challenge and then having to quit ....

She will probably also become a lyricsgirl, but I need to find the right lyrics for her. Didn't have time for that yet ....

No 29 faces .....

As much as I regret it, I've decided not to participate in the 29 faces challenge this month. I have too many projects going on at the moment, and I don't want to put extra pressure on myself. Which of course doesn't mean I'm not going to paint faces, it's just that I don't want to make a challenge out of it. My life is challenging enough as it is at the moment, trying to juggle all my tasks while still staying sane. Our new house has turned out to have many hidden defects, which sadly has made the renovation work drag on and on and on, and I don´t really see an end to it yet. So I try to sneak some moments of creativity into my days, but I know it won´t be possible every day.

That said, I managed to draw a face in ink again. It´s supposed to be a lyricsgirl, but I didn´t add the lyrics yet. So for now it´s just the face:

I have also been trying to work out how to finish my project in our toilet. I have painted quite a few figures in there already, you can see here how it's looking now:

Now I need to somehow make it look finished. When I first started this project, I painted some canvases in the same colours, so I could experiment on these in case I got stuck on my walls. So that's what I did now: I painted some figures on there as well, so now they look a bit like my toilet walls, and I'm going to try out some things before doing it on my walls. These are the 2 canvases that I'm playing with:

I like how the figures just seem to come out of the background, hidden in part by all the other things going on, and I want to keep this but at the same time make it look more finished. It doesn't look finished at the moment, it needs something more. Maybe some black lines or something. I don't know.... Any suggestions? Feel free to share :-)
