Almost finished (but not quite ....)

This week I managed to paint on 3 days, which is quite a luxury I must say. My large canvas is nearing completion, but there's still some details that I'm experimenting with. So for this week there's only some sneak peeks.... I promise to show the whole painting next week :-) It should be finished by then.

Didn't do anything else this week. Although no, that's not true. I did sketch a little bit in the evenings, as part of my plan to do some art every day. Before the start of February I should  have a routine in place, because you know what starts in February, right!? Yes, my favorite challenge :"the 29 faces". This started exactly 4 years ago, because it was also a leap year then, and the purpose was to make 29 faces in 29 days. Since then it has been every year in February and in September. You can find more information here.

I'm joining again this time around, but I made a deal with myself. I just need to do something every day, but I don't need to produce a finished face every day. The challenge isn't about that anyway, but until now I always forced myself to finish my faces (more or less...). Now, when I don't have time, I'll just draw a circle with 2 circles inside and a line and consider it a face ;-) No need to pressure myself, there's enough pressure around already. So, are you joining? Hoping to see some familiar faces there!

Linking this to Paint Party Friday and, since I have two faces from my painting in this post, also to Kim Dellow's "Show your Face". I don't know yet whether I'll post every day during the 29 faces challenge, but I will definitely post an overview every Thursday or Friday.

And as always, I'll finish this post with a funny:

lol

Thanks so much for your visit! Hope you're having a great day so far, and that the weekend will be sweet. See you next week ♥ ♥ ♥

  13. There is so much surface depth in your paintings. Lovely little owl looks a bit sad and I love the blue tree. Your ladies have a fantastical look, they seem to come from another world. Like others I am looking forward to seeing the finish.

  17. I'm thinking that 29 faces challenge would be the perfect way to do a little something each day-and you're right-each one does not have to be thoroughly complete, nor a masterpiece. Gorgeous canvas art!!

  19. Denise, this is one of the most beautiful of your paintings. I love the faces and the ethereal blues that make this such a special canvas. Great job on this marvelous WIP.

  23. Can't wait to see the final painting! I am going to join in 29 Faces. My art, my projects, my thoughts have been so scattered for so long, maybe if I do the same thing everyday I can get some insight on what I need to be doing. I feel so lost.Glad you got to paint 3 days this week and some sketching. Hugs, Rasz

  24. Even your minimum amount of artwork is much more than what i do :) But in the end, it is important to just do something, not produce a finished product.Till this year i was quite intimidated by the idea of drawing faces for a month. But maybe this year i can try.Happy weekend Denthe :)

  26. Oh, you have used my favourite colours in your paintings! Gorgeous!

29 Faces of February...I completely forgot. Oh, boy...I will have to think about that one. It is a bit stressful to complete a finished piece every day. I remember staying up really late each night the last time I did the challenge. I don't work at the fastest speed and am usually not happy with my quick art.

I am so glad that you are back to painting on your canvases. They are so remarkable!

I was just looking at my intuitive canvases and thinking it may be time to do another one!

    Thanks for sharing!

  27. Love the faces on this big canvas and the owl too. Soooo I am going to try to do 29 face. You have encouraged me. You commented on my blog how you would like to walk around my house of art. When people come over they tell me my house looks like an art gallery or art museum. I have two stories of my art, my moms and grandmas and other artists. Each section of my house is designated for a certain type of art. OK so I am a bit of an organized clean freak. LOL

  33. They're looking great, and I just love the colours! Looking forward to seeing them when they're finished. I'm trying to draw every day too, and I like your approach. Yes, it's not about always finishing something. The most important thing is to just do something. I always want to join the 29 faces but always seem to miss when it begins.
