I'm back :-)

I'm back from holidaying with the family and busy preparing for some markets. I almost completely disconnected from the internet during the time we were in the south of France, and I must admit it's something I could get used to... Although I'm also looking forward to seeing what everyone's been up to during my absence :-)

I made myself a new artjournal from gelliprints and tryouts. I need to make some more pictures and then I'll show it to you next week. This is one page in that journal, that I did during our holidays. Somehow I thought the artjournal would be almost full by the time we returned, but alas, that proved to be pretty unrealistic. I mostly relaxed and read heaps of books :-)

I experimented a bit with making patterns though, and had a lot of fun in the process. I want to use these patterns for duvet covers and all over tees in my Society6-shop. Here are some examples:

This is a drawing that I made for the Inktober challenge last year, and I turned it into a pattern. Love experimenting with this!

And this is a detail of a journalpage that is turned into a pattern. I have so many ideas that I want to try out now. Wish the days had more hours ....

But for now these things will have to wait, since I'm very busy preparing for 2 markets that I'll do at the end of August. I did one last week already, and these are some rocks that I painted and took with me (and sold ):

They both have a quote on the back, as all of my rocks do, but it's in Dutch so I'm only showing you the front. I need to start using more Dutch quotes now, since that's the language they speak here. I will still use English too though.

I don't have much more to show for now. Lots and lots of things in progress. I will be linking this to Paint Party Friday and to Show your Face. Hope you'll visit there, lots of things to see!

And I'll end with my funny of the week ;-)

lol :-D

Thanks for visiting! Have a lovely day and a fun weekend. See you next week ♥ ♥ ♥

  1. Welcome back! I'm glad you had a lovely time in the south of France and you do right to disconnect from the internet during your holiday - it's a proper way to unwind isn't it. Like you, I always imagine I'll do lots of sketching during holidays but then never do - I read books instead! I don't know why I think I'll sketch as it isn't something I do very much of the rest of the time anyway! Hey ho, perhaps in Greece next month.
I like the journal page you did - the colours are lovely and soft yet still vibrant and those repeat patterns look wonderful - good luck with selling them on products in your shop and congrats on selling the painted stones!

  6. Glad to see your wonderful work again, Denise. I hope the vacation was restful and you are all geared up to do beautiful art again. The patterns are intriguing. The quote in the blue box caught me off guard and I almost fell out of my chair laughing.

  9. Welcome back! Your artwork is so beautiful and colorful as always. I really love the first painting of the girl in soft blues and greens. It's lovely. She looks so thoughtful.

Your Society6 shop looks amazing! So many beautiful things to buy. I hope you sell lots of pretty art. I can't believe how many new products they have. I have pretty much neglected my store there since I opened it. I should take another look at it and make some new products.

  10. Disconnecting and spending the time relaxing and reading sounds just wonderful! It's great to take a break from time to time. Love your Gelli print page! I made a journal with Gelli print pages too, some time ago, but never really dared drawing or painting anything on the pages. Your patterns look gorgeous!

  15. Very cool patterns and rocks. Your rocks don't even look like rocks at all, which I guess is the idea, you just do it so well! Nice to have been on vacation and off line for a while. Happy PPF! And have a wonderful weekend too!

  16. So glad you had a great unplugged holiday!! That is my favorite quote on the patterned quilt...and I love the bird pattern I think it would be so awesome for a boys bed.Hard to find cool patterns like that!! I laughed out loud at that bit of humour at the end!! Funny Beardo is a pure dutch man, both parents born in Holland. Will be interesting when you share the translations for us!! Glad you are back with your gorgeous artwork! You are always missed!

  25. This is such a beautiful post! I love your patterns! I would love a duvet like that most definitely! Your painted stones are so beautiful too. You are such a talented artist. It's a privilege to be looking at your creativity again. I am sorry I'm so late in commenting this time, but my mum's been ill, I've been doing a class on line and today I'm feeling unwell. I just had to say something about your lovely work though. xx

  30. I answered you on my blogger blog but decided to come here to tell you in case you didn't see it. I use the Cinch. It makes the holes and has a place to hang the wire while you put your covers and pages on the wire and in the back is a place to place the wire when finished to squish it down. It was reasonable priced. I also have used the Levenger punch that uses Circa disks but it is more expensive and less satisfactory. I also just sew some of them with embroidery thread and the pamphlet stitch. I keep trying new stitches but the pamphlet one is easy. Thank you for your comment about icad!
