29 faces challenge: day 3

When we were on holidays, I taught my 11-yr-old-daughter how to draw a face with shadows. When I looked at the drawing she made, I was facinated by the way she drew the eyes. I loved how big and round they were. This is the drawing she made:

Isn't it gorgeous? (even though she didn't like it at all ...)

So I used these eyes as inspiration for my next drawing, which is the 3rd drawing for the 29-faces-challenge:

I drew the girl in coloured pencils, painted the hair black and then scanned it in and used one of my in-progress paintings as a background in Photoshop.

I love making these eyes. There might be a lot more to come ... ;-)

Off now to visit as many of you as possible ..... Thanks so much for visiting ♥

  6. You have a very, very talented daughter. At 11 years old she has a very mature style. What I like best about her work, as well as the eyes, is the fact that in spite of the fact that you were teaching her, she has her own style. Talent certainly passes through the family. Yours is lovely, and I like the combination of pencil, paint and digital background.

  16. Your daughter is clearly going to take after you artistically. Her face is wonderful and those eyes are so soulful. I love how you've scanned your girl into that background-it looks amazing. I'd love to know how to do that as photo shop just baffles me!

    1. Thanks Nic! It's actually quite easy to do that. You first select the area around your sketch with the magic wand, which should be pretty easy when your drawing is done on white paper. Then you open a background-image, select all and copy it, you go back to your sketch and you click "paste into". Then your background goes nicely into the space surrounding your drawing. If it's too small, you can edit - transform - and scale it. Done! ☺
