Lots of things ...

I managed to almost finish my 2018 calendar this week! Here are a few of the months that are ready:

I had to use pictures of older work in order to get enough images, since I only finished 2 (two!) larger paintings this year .... I'll show the other months next week.

I'm still in doubt about my map-calendar. I would like to make one, and quite a few people asked me about it too, but I'm not sure what to do about the line in the middle that indicates the spine of the journal. Doesn't that look kinda weird in a calendar page? Here's an example:

I have tried to get rid of the lines in Photoshop, but I can't really make it invisible without making everything blurry in the middle. The problem is the text on the map. So I need your help :-) Would it bother you in a calendar page to see those lines? Please tell me in the comments, I would really appreciate your opinion!

I have been quite busy creative-wise this week. Probably felt like I should make up for lost time. It was quite an eye-opener to realize that I only finished 2 large paintings this year.... I made another watercolour-girl. Here are some in-progress shots:

And last but not least: my diary-pages from last week:

I have a lot of things in progress too, for a pop-up shop that I will be part of that starts in October and will be open for 3 months. I'll show those next week.

Will be linking to Paint Party Friday tomorrow.

I'll finish with some funnies :-)

 duhh ....

not sure this one is funny ...

this one is though. Hahahaa :-D

And here are the ones to think about:

Thanks so much for your visit, and if you can spare a minute, please let me know how you feel about the map-calendar. Thanks :-)

Wishing you a wonderful day full of kindness and positive thoughts. I'll be back next week ♥ ♥ ♥

  2. The lines wouldn't bother me either, but.....did you try using the clone tool in Photoshop? It usually does a pretty good job... I tried it.....but I can't post it here in the comments :( I'll try and e-mail it to you.

  5. WOW! Some of those thoughtful quotes are really intense! And yes, I agree about the one that is,is not funny
However, the doggies and kitties- how precious is that!!

Denise, I do hope you counted your toilet as 2-3 extra large paintings as that is what is was-there was an awful lot of art accomplished there! Plus you did all of those pieces for shows, don't put too much pressure on yourself, you have truly been a bust one!

I love your art and I love you, my friend!

  6. Your calendar pages are gorgeous. The lines wouldn't bother me, but it's all down to the viewer. You either like something or you don't.

  7. Your calendar art is great. The line in your map page is a bit odd when you mentioned it. I would try to color it with the map's color. But if you had not mention about it, I would not notice anything 😋
    Happy weekend ❤

  8. Oh my! That cookie stealing cat paw is hilarious! I love the calendar art and am looking forward to buying one when they're available.

As for the lines, I remove mine nicely in Photoshop but the way I do it is tedious piecemeal work. I'm cutting and pasting areas from before and after the fold over the fold and then using a soft blurry eraser set to about 50% opacity to remove hard edges. You can do the same for text and then just use a similar font to retype. Lines can be redrawn too since it's just tiny bits over the fold. Like I said, tedious and piecemeal! I've done it when I want to make a print from a double journal page.

  10. I think your art is always so beautiful. I don't think I'd even notice the line, but just in case someone might wonder what it meant, you could include a statement on the first page or inside cover or somewhere that the art is taken from a journal spread.

  13. In fact, I like the gutter shadow, it shows you're working in a journal and gives the immersion that you're viewing something private and secret. Like you're special. DOn't change a thing. Love everything my friend. So glad you're finding time to join us! Visitng from PPF.

  18. Oh Denise those map pages are so powerful and would be in demand, line or not! I wasn't focused on the line until you mentioned it. My eye gravitates to everything else. I think of it as part of the authentic artwork!! Stunning and powerful!! You are making good use of your artwork...I love that you are using what you have to make a calendar this year!! All the best!!

    Peace Giggles

  19. Again such a wonderful post! Your calenders looks amazing! And yes I know the issue with the spread line in the middle! Photoshop does not always repair that! I would not bother the line though! Loove your giggle stuff in the end when the cat want the cookie, haha ♥ Conny http://piaromsartjournaling.blogspot.de

  22. The Map-Calendar sounds like a good idea. I wonder if you write some information on the front pages somewhere to explain that the imagery is from journal pages that this might help explain the mid-line to people and possibly they'd accept this because it features book art. Not wall art.
