Hectic days .....

This week started well with a sketch, but then all of a sudden it was Thursday and I still hadn't worked on my painting or in my journal. Arggh! I can't seem to get into the habit of creating every day, I'm always a few hours short each day. Still, when I do it, it feels so good, so I really want to make this my yearlong resolution. I'll keep trying .... :-)

Managed to finish a journalpage, although it was really really hard at the start. Some days I can't get into the flow, I keep thinking too much about what I'm going to do instead of just playing and trying things out. In the end I finally found my mojo and then it was easy to finish it.

This is in an old medical encyclopedia, and my goal is to finish all the pages this year. It shouldn't be too hard, since about half of it is already finished. That will be my first "real" artjournal that I finish. I'm working in about 5 at the same time, plus some more for sketches and watercolour.  It just depends on my mood which one I want to work in at a certain day.

I also worked in a new sketchbook. I opens up really flat and I like the paper, so I'll probably be working more in this one as well.

And that's it for this week! Linking to Paint Party Friday, as always :-)

And, also as always, here are some funnies. Because, let's face it: today there's not much to smile about, so we neeeed them!

And one to think about ....

Thanks for being here, hope you'll have a beautiful day, despite the orange-haired moron whose name we won't mention .... And for all the women worldwide who are marching tomorrow: love u ♥ ♥ ♥

  9. not American, but I can say I really don't think today it a good day. At least looking at the pictures of the day with the empty seats and spaces can make me chuckle a bit

  12. Wow! Great post! I love your painting and your drawing! I have been drawing every night in bed. That way I get some creativity in and also relax enough to sleep in a reclined position. Your funnies got me laughing! I DO have that chair which doubles as a chair for my sewing machine. Col. Morris Davis' really got me laughing. Can I share a few of these? And lastly the tree's sign really is thought provoking. So much unknown for this year that we need the Funnies to bring us back to laughing! Happy late PPF and hope you have a GERAT upcoming week. Hugs, Rasz

  14. I totally understand the difficulty of trying to keep a regular creative habit! I wake up early and walk straight into my studio. If I don't, I get side tracked by life. Both of your pieces this week are moving and beautiful. I always appreciate your meticulous detailing and color sense.

  16. Oh I can relate to all of your words in this post. I really need to try to play with my art supplies every day even if it's briefly. I spend far too long procrastinating!
Two brilliant pieces of artwork... I love them both ♥♥
    Happy PPF to you

  17. I get lost in my own mind all the time! And I'm also having a difficult time finding the time for art each day. But I'm organizing my studio today so maybe that will help.
LOVE the funnies. We need some joy and laughter in our lives. Yesterday was a dark day in America and I fear there are darker days ahead.

  19. Like you I love it when a journal opens up flat and stays like that. Beautiful pages - your girls/women are always so inspiring.
My entire family marched yesterday. It was peaceful, joyful (despite the moron in the White House) and full of positive energy. We won't give up!

  21. Hello, wonderful funnies this week as well as artwork. I love Lost in my own mind and your sketch is beautiful! I need to pick your brain about Society6. I joined and sold one thing and got $2.66 cents from an over $25.00 sale!

    1. yep, that'll be about right! It's only on the prints that you get to decide for yourself how much royalties you'll get, the other products are all fixed royalties. Here's a link to the help-page where you can see how much you'll earn when you sell something: https://help.society6.com/hc/en-us/articles/227119388. It's not much, but then again you don't have to do anything for it, just upload your image. But I doubt many artists on there get rich ... ;-S

  22. Hi denthe! I love your colorful art with the black background - the colors really pop! And your sketch is beautiful! I like to use spiral bound journals and sketchbooks so I can open them flat or fold it all the way back. Is your journal spiral bound?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. no, I don't like to work in a spiral bound journal, the spiral bothers me when I draw. And for painting in it I make way too much mess ... ;-)

  24. I can so relate to that. I don't manage to create as much as I want, even though I want to draw daily, and make it a habit. I'm now reading a book about habits, so maybe that will help... Wonderful journal page, and beautiful drawing. I like having different sketchbooks for different things to work in too.

  25. Sounds like our muses are hanging out together! haahaa Yup,I spend alot of timing thinking what and how to do it instead of just playing! then I get on the internet and get all frustrated and upset and there goes everything-I am too muddled to create! Thank you for always being such an inspiration and for always being so supportive of our struggles here in the US and worldwide- I am so happy we have met Denise! sending hugs from one Nasty woman to another! Peace,my friend! xx
